As the basic layout is done and some props were made I am thinking of what kind of door-functionality I should implement in the Führerbunker Project. At the moment every door is in an open position, static and not move-able.
Ideas:
-Automatic doors that open for example by proximity with auto-close after a time?
-Physical doors that open and close by physical push and pull?
-Doors that open and close upon Interaction, for example, go to door, look at and press an interact button, to open and close, maybe with highlighted outlines on door?
-Lock mechanism for ex with optional keys for regular doors and the bunker door-levers for the bunk-doors?
-Different keys for different doors, a general key that opens all generic doors?
-Inventory-System?
There are possibly several other ways of how it could be done, if you have any ideas or feedback let me know.
The player character wont have any first or third person animations (to interact with doors) in the near future as this project is more of a walk-able Exploration experience and, I am an animation boon, it would not be feasible in a reasonable time to learn and create that for this particular case.
In relation to functioning bunker doors I also think of a gas tight feature, where in case of an external gas attack, you could survive inside, if all sealed bunker doors are closed and filter/ventilation system still is intact, but no further ideas so far on this matter..
